Project Description: The main goal of this project is to extend customizable bioinformatics systems for collating and standardizing entomological and environmental datasets across the study sites to also benefits a wider research community and develop data-driven mathematical models that enable the application of such datasets to evaluate the impacts of combining new and existing interventions against disease-transmitting mosquitoes. The main goal of this project is to extend customizable bioinformatics systems for collating and standardizing entomological and environmental datasets across the study sites to also benefits a wider research community and develop data-driven mathematical models that enable the application of such datasets to evaluate the impacts of combining new and existing interventions against disease-transmitting mosquitoes. Specifically, 1. To extend, through participatory approaches that involve both the scientists generating the data and the data managers, a bioinformatics system that can be used across multiple entomological experiments, projects and studies to collate and standardize essential data on malaria vectors their behavioural and physiological characteristics, as well as their transmission activities 2. Build and test the models and demonstrate that such low-cost data gathering and standardization systems support participatory evidence-based decision making for optimized integrated control strategies.
